GLO 2: Communication

Effective Communication is important in any organizations so as to perform the basic functions of management, i.e., Planning, Organizing, Leading and controlling. Communication also helps in socializing. In today’s life the only presence of another individual foster’s communication.

I have also enhanced my leadership and other soft skills through participation in campus activities. Chief amongst these has been my initiative to enhance the learning experience with my peers, members of the Civil Engineering Society (CES) at the college. The society contributes by organizing events of the civil department on regular basis and at annual fests, on the campus. Contributing as a facilitator helped me acquire the necessary skills that will give me an added advantage in my graduate program.

Being an extrovert, public speaking has always been the best area for me. In Bachelors, I even have presented my work in front of jurors and here at Deakin, I have done presentations as a part of the units Principles of Building information Modelling and Construction Company Management.

When I had the chance, I jumped into the events organized by CES. One such was the Climate Change Workshop which was an event open to all university students. There, I was part of organizing team and was given a role of making fixtures of matches.

I joined the contest on Concrete Technology as well, competing against approx. 50 peers of the rigorous and fast-paced Megalith Quiz.
