SELF REFLECTION
Coming from a different educational Background and shifting
from Engineering to management was not an easy task and taking this decision was a bit difficult too as I had no such knowledge regarding the Management and before
I even arrived at the Deakin University to start my Masters in Construction
Management, I was nervous and concerned that I had possibly taken the wrong
career path. At the end of my first day which was an Orientation Day, I realised
that not only was this the right career move but I also loved the ability to
learn from the tutors that gave a brief introduction about the course and
guided well.
Well my initiative to get involved in this Master’s course
has been one that I will never regret but I never realised would be so huge.
Coming here to pursue Master’s coursework has been a life-changing experience
for me. Settling in a new country independently has had its challenges. Meeting
new people and interacting has not been that difficult for me as I use to
participate in almost all the events in my country and I have been to some
other countries and it was a fun and loving experience over there as I love
socializing and making new friends. I have changed a lot in the few months of
coming here. There are many things that I have learned about myself in this
time.
The learning and teaching culture, here at Deakin is very
different from back in India. Researching topics, critically analysing
various subjects and working in teams with people who are from various
backgrounds has proven to be very exciting. The faculty here is always
available for discussions and help, and offer a fresh perspective towards the
methods I construction industry.
And one of the best things that I love about working on
Assignments are the Academic Integrity, that here we need to research and give
our opinions and not to copy from anyone else which indirectly point towards
innovative and creative thinking.
After completing my 8 Credits here I can confidently say
that studying in Deakin has given me a fresh perspective towards how to study.
Here studies are more towards the practical and research knowledge as compared
to the theoretical knowledge and this course is perfectly designed and covers
all the concepts that are needed to survive in the industry.
